{ode to mrs. roper}

Basked in moo-moos with brilliant floral printed flare.  I dig you, Mrs. Roper.  You eeked jewelry large. Draped & bobbled about you.  You were svelte in the Santa Monica sweltering humidity. Flamboyant in your ways dealing with Stanley, better yet, Chrissy.  Animated & alert for nothing more than life.  In cahoots half the time for the next big scene of hilarious adventure.  You, Mrs. Roper, are where it's at.

The older I get, the more I want to be be like her.  Up front & personal with life. Fanatical in my own ways.  Goofy. Happy.  Ready & angling to love on Stanley Kenny every chance I get.  She made life fun to watch.  And that's what sticks with me.

The watching.

The opportunity to be seen.  Not so much by others, but for myself.  Through my own eyes & with my own heart.

Let's not forget that she was a mastermind dresser.  YES, let's not forget.  The older I get, the more the word moo-moo delights me.  Confession: I have completely converted to night gown wear for bedtime.  Say what?? Yes, cyber world. Yes, strangers who read my blog.  It's true. Hormones will trump those cute peejay pants every.single.time.Breathing & air flow take on a whole new meaning, cats.

Night sweats, anyone?

I feel as if I just lost about half my reading audience with that last sentence.  Most of you are still rockin' FULL-ON make-up to bed, old college tees & jammie pants. Heck, three-fourths of you think tweezers are tools used to apply cute nail art decals on your slightly tacky nails.  High fives, girls! LIVE.IT.UP.Tweezers for chin hairs.  Psshhh.Whatevs.

Mrs. Roper, thank you for your fashion wisdom.  For your trend setting that trumps things like bloating and gassiness and oh.my.word.what.the.heck.just.happened.to.my.waistline.overnight.  Thank you for reminding us that letting go & letting it all out is very much in style.

The watching.

I want to do more of that.  I want to smack-dab find those out there living like Mrs. Roper.  And I wanna join their Three's Company.  I want to wake up  every morning completely drenched from another hormonal sweatage outburst, stumble into the bathroom only to look into the mirror and see a little more of myself amidst the crow's feet and middle-aged acne patches.

Draped & bobbled about you, Mrs. Roper, do yo thang, girl.
