Ain't no shame in my game. For all you trend setters out there, I.love.leg.warmers.And printed tights! That's right. Heart'em up, cats. I doozies. The eighties was like one gigantic neon-esque bubble where I romped and reigned girl style supreme. Not just me though. I mean, we all did. What with the coordinating sweater/ leg warmer combos and the over-sized plastic charms with their colorful link necklaces. Jelly bracelets. Jams in the summer. Buuuuh-nana clips & crimpers. High bangs. Members Only jackets. I mean heck. Nineties, it's no wonder you sucked rocks with your fashion print.
And I kinda have a bone to pick with the 21st century current little girl fashion world. I mean, it's like this: THEY'RE SEVEN. How about we dress them like they are, okay? Why in tarnation does GAP need their little girls' clothing line to be like miniature women? Where is the fun in wearing a faux stringy fur vest when you're 4?Um, no.
Now, I don't have little girls.I have boys. This offspring decision is further proof of God's holiness, indeed. Because I would struggle with how to present the front-of-the-store fashion windows to little girls with regards to wearing what you love and covering yourself in your best you.
Boys are low maintenance and own little concern for fashion. And I've always encouraged and allowed my guys to be the boss of how they choose to express themselves with one dimensional articles of coverage.
One time Casey wanted to wear high black socks to church with red shorts and a tie. I shimmied there for a minute at first glance out the door, and he noticed my facial stumble. To which he replied, "Mom, I think God will love my look."
Exactly.And off we went.
I want my boys to know that clothes are about coverage and expression. I don't want to limit them to colors and combinations. Heck, please no one limit me. I would duuuyyeeee if someone made me wear khaki pants.

Ahhh, I love the look. I love the comfort and the notion of being smack dab happy with the one dimensional coverage of me. I kinda think that's life's big goal. Getting to the spot where your outsides sync-lock with the innards of you. And this outfit couldn't be more one dimensional proof of my innards in outward fashion, not to mention my son's fantastic ability to snap pictures off-cue much like the above capture.
Watch out now. Next week there just may be a link charm necklace all up in this joint.
