{texture & january goals}
New & again. 2 words that mean almost completely the opposite of the other. Pairing these letter clusters together evokes an energy that coexists with uncertainty, thrill & failure. And that's life. New & again.
Just last night I posted a snippet of my thoughts about beginnings on Instagram. It involved a fresh plate of fruit on my counter. Perky pairs, citrus packed lemons & oranges and bursting-with-potassium bananas. This bundled together capture served my senses well for new & again insight. Textures different. Surfaces fresh. Ready to begin their best service to the newness of myself & my family. Thus, building even better upon my 2015 word of the year and January goals.
For the majority of my paid teaching career, it was my absolute heart's desire to master my 2 year cycled lesson plans. And yet, as each new school calendar session began, I would look at what happened the year before with stagnancy. There was something very mandatory inside me anxious to change it. Alter its status. Re-direct the lesson's potential energy. Reach learners in different ways was all I really wanted to do.
And this passion for change inevitably trumped my fervent desire to keep recycling the old. And that's life. It's not getting stuck & stale; it's keeping agile for newness to settle into the already good goins-on of you.
My word for this 2015 calendar year is texture. I want to hoist it to the very forefront of my being. I want to embrace the gritty and the smooth around me. I want to climb the rigid. And sift the sandiness of my person, too. I want to find cognizance with the feel of calm and the notoriety of what is and can be best placed in me.
I want new & again to reside in my breathes from the inside all the way to the out.
My plan is to include you on this year long journey. I will post here at the beginning of each month with my monthly goals as well as a ending post to establish progress on my texture hunt.
Any new goals for you this month? Got plans to knock a dent in a big word for the year? I'd love to hear from you. It's in these notions of better where new & again find us upward and ready for making the most of our everydays.
With January's goals set, I want to welcome 2 new scents to the k.Mac Candle Family. "Frosted Snow Flurries" is a refreshingly clean scent investing in the tones of woodland moss and spearmint. Its earthy undercurrent is deep and this scents throw boasts of a bold freshly snow fallen brilliance. "Pomegranate Mandarin" is a melody of pomegranate, mandarin, blackberry & a touch of sandalwood. It's scent vibes a sweet fruity appeal with a barely there tartness.
These scents along with "Rosemary Mint" and "Fresh Cut Christmas" will be offered at a sale price of $11 per 12 oz. jar now through January 31st. Go here to place your happy orders.
