5 Best Ways to Get My Mo-Jo Back

Ending my day feeling satisfied and accomplished seems to happen on a limited basis these days. A more common feeling is exhausted, depleted, frustrated, pulled in too many directions and no foreseeable relief in the near future. Life seems to be jam packed with “to-dos” and not enough “get tos”. Don’t get me wrong. I am so thankful for the positive things in my life -- the sounds of laughing children, a caring husband, sweet friends, a fulfilling job, a roof over my head, etc. But the juggling of home, work, family, and oh yea, yourself, can be a whole lot sometimes.

I’ve always been the kind of person to look for things that make me feel alive, centered. grounded, strong, balanced...whatever you want to call it. In the past 4-5 years, the items listed below are things that have saved me . It’s what I am calling the 5 Best Ways to Get My Mojo Back!

1. Water time.

On a boat, on a float, or camping out on an island. No matter where I go or how I get there, the open water is where I find peace and happiness. I am not there often, but when I am, it’s the best feeling ever. I could be around 15 friends laughing my tail off or there on my own, and yet I will always have a fleeting moment where the still water catches my breathe and the stress just floats away.

2. Jazzercise.

Ok, well, I don’t Jazzercise. I just wanted to say it, because when do you ever get to say JAZZERCISE?!

But seriously, exercise is really great medicine for me. From the age 6 to 33 I played soccer, regularly. But age caught up with me and for the past 5 years, I’ve had to find other ways to exercise like running, hiking, and biking. Do I do it all the time? Nope. There are mornings I wake up feeling sluggish but I have no time nor interest to go for a quick jog – so I will do like 50 jumping jacks and 50 sit ups. It’s not to get in shape, but it does get my blood pumping and gives a nudge to my inner voice to say “you are alive!” Also, Pinterest has become my BFF when it comes to finding quick (15-20 min) exercises I can do inside before work or after the kids go to bed. Here is one of my favs right now.

3. Let it loose in the car.

Yes, go ahead and laugh. But when I am alone in my car I have been known to sing or scream really, really loud. Have you ever tried it? It’s pretty exhilarating and honestly feels great. It’s a big fat release during those stressful, tense, frustrating days. I mean, think about it. No one is with you in this enclosed space. It’s perfect! So, if you ever drive up on me and see me doing this, don’t judge. Just throw me a thumbs up and keep on strolling.

4. Writing.

It’s not a coincidence that I agreed to write monthly for meghancobble.com. Writing is therapeutic for me. A great woman once recommended I start writing when I’m not feeling centered or in a rut. The key to releasing stress when writing is to write without judgment. It’s not the easiest thing to do at the beginning, but honestly, when you get the hang of it, it is completely liberating. I just write the first thing that comes to mind and keep going. It’s amazing how easily I can get to the core of what is throwing me off balance.

5. Friend time.

There is no replacement for sitting at the kitchen table, around a fire, having a spontaneous dinner, or on a road trip with close friends. I feel completely rejuvenated in between the laughter, the conversation, the silence and maybe a few heartfelt moments. Add a bottle of wine or a cold beer and some snacks and life is all good.

Growing for Good

Being a small business of one, I am most thankful for wonderful returning clients as well as customers who share their love for my designs through word of mouth. I invest in quality and hope for quantity. That's my business model not with just the words that I write, but also with the designs that I create. Facebook is slowly taking small businesses off the map with regards to their social media algorithms. If you enjoy my designs and/or my blog posts, I would appreciate your support. Writing genuine with good content not only involves the writer, but the audience of readers as well.  Your interactions with the words in this space allow our staff to see what interests you most.  Thus, giving us all more passion to write. Thanks for your great support!
